Gophers Compete at Head of the Rock

The University of Minnesota rowing team continued its fall season, today, at the Head of the Rock in Rockford, Ill. The Golden Gophers won the Open 4+ and placed fourth in the Open 8+ competition. Minnesota continues action next Sunday at the Princeton Chase.

Minnesota's boat of Illana Ostrin, Katie Johnson, Ashlee Vilmo, Stephanie Bakkum and Lucy Mulvey won the event. Placing fourth overall was the boat of Erica Niemiec, Lisa Pugh, Jenna Schuder, Ali Fisher and Cassie Drozynski. Placing seventh overall was the boat of Michele Peterson, Emily Baxter, Sarah Graham and Sarah Krueger. 

The Gophers' boat of Linnea Trandem, Johnson, Pugh, Bakkum, Vilmo, Baxter, Mulvey, Drozynski and Fisher, placed fourth overall. Minnesota's boat of Monika Folker, Peterson, Schuder, Krueger, Graham, Michelle Murphy, Erin Desmond, Kate Ladell and Alyssa Kast finished 10th overall.
