Hoopla Fan Fest Set For Saturday

The Minnesota women’s basketball team will host its annual Hoopla celebration, kicking off the 2008-09 season on Saturday, Oct. 18, at Williams Arena. The family-oriented fan fest will include several activities, including sport stacking contests, face-painting and photos with Goldy Gopher in the concourse. Then the action really gets going when the Golden Gopher team is introduced to the fans in a top-secret, fun-filled program where a lucky fan could win season tickets for five years! Door open at 11 a.m., with the team introductions set for 12 noon. Hoopla is free and open to the public.
The program will feature plenty of crowd participation. The winner of the sport stacking contest in the concourse will get the chance to challenge Emily Fox in front of the Hoopla crowd. Fans will also have the chance to submit questions that will be part of an entertaining Q&A session with the players. The team will hold a short 10-minute scrimmage to conclude the session, followed by the debut of the 2008-09 schedule poster and your one-and-only chance to collect the entire team’s autographs.
The first 500 fans in the door will receive a special gift and everyone in attendance will be given free tickets to that evening’s Gopher women’s hockey game versus Ohio State (4 p.m. Ridder Arena).
