Gophers Travel North to Face Bemidji State

GOPHERS TRAVEL NORTH TO FACE BEMIDJI STATE
The No. 2 University of Minnesota women’s hockey team travels north to face Bemidji State Friday and Saturday in Bemidji, Minn. Friday’s game is set for 7:07 p.m., followed by a quick turnaround at 2 p.m. on Saturday.

Fans who wish to listen to the games online can do so by signing up for the Gold Zone on the Minnesota website. Dan Hamann will provide the play-by-play for the Gopher games. Minnesota’s road games this weekend can be found on www.gophersports.com via audio broadcast.
GOPHER FAN RALLY SET FOR BSU TRIP
As a part of the University of Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletics’ Statewide Tour, a fan rally and reception has been set up prior to the Gophers’ Saturday game against Bemidji State. At the Gopher hotel, the Hampton Inn & Suites in Bemidji, Minn., a reception will be held from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Fans will get a chance to meet former Gopher coach Laura Halldorson, who will be sharing her insight on TCF Bank Stadium. Head coach Brad Frost and the team will arrive at noon before leaving for the game. Fans can also receive Gopher giveaways, posters, schedule cards and information about their new football stadium being built for the 2009 season.

Following the Gopher series this weekend, the Maroon and Gold hosts Minnesota State, Nov. 21-22 at Ridder Arena. The first game is scheduled for a 7:07 p.m. followed by a 4:07 p.m. start on Saturday.
GOPHER ALUMS RETURN NEXT WEEKEND
The Golden Gophers will host its alumni weekend, Nov. 21-22 when the current team hosts Minnesota State. On Friday, a silent auction will be held by the Gophers’ Power-Play Booster Club. On Saturday, Minnesota will hold its alumni game at noon prior to the Gopher game at 4 p.m. The game will be two 30-minutes halves with running time with the Alumni split between two teams. Please arrive at Ridder Arena by 11:15 a.m. The game is free to the public. Following the alumni game, old teammates will have a reception in the clubroom during the Gopher game against the Mavericks.

Sarah Erickson is from LaPorte, Minn. which is about 20 minutes from Bemidji. In fact, Erickson played two years of high school hockey at Bemidji High School her junior and senior years. Along with Erickson, Gigi Marvin will have a large family contingent at Bemidji this weekend, traveling three hours south from Warroad, Minn.
