Minnesota 2 Michigan Tech 2

Minnesota Head Coach Don Lucia quotes

Opening statement
“I thought Michigan Tech made a couple of good plays in the third period. We could not get a third goal to put the game away. In the second period we played a lot shorthanded and we didn’t get much going offensively. Give Michigan Tech a lot of credit with how hard they played. They gave themselves a chance to win right to the very end.”

On losing the faceoff battle for the firs time all season
“We did pretty well in the first period with faceoffs. We lost some critical ones. They scored their 4-on-4 goal directly from a faceoff and at the end they had a pretty good shot on goal from a faceoff. We need to get better at that tomorrow.”

On having a 2-0 lead going into the third period
“I thought the lead wasn’t secure because of the way the game was being played. We weren’t able to control the puck today. They had the power play and we didn’t do a whole lot in the second period. Then they scored, making it 2-1 and then it became a game. I was hoping we could have snuck a win out tonight.”

On Minnesota’s penalties
“You have to move your feet. You look at most of the penalties and they were stick penalties. Those are going to be called.”

On Minnesota’s performance
“Michigan Tech did some things to get us out of step. There wasn’t a lot of cohesiveness in our game tonight. Tomorrow we need to play with a little more emotion.”
