Bachmeier Named Big Ten Swimmer of the Week

The Big Ten has announced that Minnesota junior Linzey Bachmeier earned the Big Ten Swimmer of the Week following her performance at the Minnesota Challenge last weekend. Bachmeier is the fifth member of the Golden Gopher swimming and diving team to receive a weekly honor and the seventh this season for Minnesota.
Bachmeier placed first in four of her five events last weekend at the Minnesota Challenge. Her two individual wins were in the 50 freestyle and the 100 butterfly recording times of 23.72 and 56.44, respectively. Bachmeier's other two victories came in the 200 freestyle relay (1:35.88) and the 400 medley relay (3:56.69). The junior garners her first career weekly honor.
Bachmeier and the rest of the Golden Gophers take the week off to prepare for the Big Ten Championships. Feb. 21-23 in Columbus, Ohio. Prelims will be held at 11 a.m. each day, followed by diving at 1 p.m. and finals at 6:30 p.m. (ET)
