Gophers Finish 18th in Puerto Rico

Minnesota fired a final-round 315 to equal its best score of the tournament but it wasn’t enough to help the Golden Gophers climb in the standings as the Maroon and Gold’s settled for an 18th place finish with a final score of 956.
Alabama overcame a four-stroke deficit heading into Tuesday’s third round to capture the team title, followed by LSU and Kent State and TCU.
Arkansas’ Stacy Lewis led the individual race wire to wire to take medalist honors with a three-round score of 8-under par 208.
Freshman Teresa Puga, who made her collegiate debut, placed 73rd with a final score of 236 and was Minnesota’s highest individual finisher.
The Minnesota women’s golf team returns to action March 7-9, when the Golden Gophers travel to Arizona to compete in the Rio Verde Invitational.
