Mesones closes tournament tied for fourth
PEORIA, Ariz. ā The University of Minnesota women's golf team rounded out play at the Westbrook Invitational in ninth place Monday. The Golden Gophers carded a team score of 286-284-287ā857 (-7) at the Westbrook Village Golf Course.Ā
"It was good to see the team shoot all three rounds under par," said head coach Matt Higgins after the Gophers carded a 7-under-par score.Ā
Luisamariana Mesones closed the competition tied for fourth place after securing a final round score of 70 (-2). The senior concluded the tournament with a total score of 205 (-11).Ā
"I am very proud of her. Mariana has been playing well all spring. She put herself in contention to win another tournament, which is great experience," said Higgins after Mesones tied for 4th place.Ā
Missouri claimed a first place team finish with a final score of 827 (-37).Ā

Senior Olivia Deakins shot a 71 (-1) to finish the competition. She carded an eagle on the eighth hole of the final round to place 31st.Ā
Isabella McCauley maintained a 45th place finish with an even third round score of 72. The senior secured seven birdies through 54 holes of play.Ā
Sophomore Reese McCauley finished 2-over-par during her third round, carding a 74. She closed the event with a 224 (+8), placing her 63rd.
Freshman Lauryn Finley posted a 4-over-par score in the final round with a 76, where she maintained a 69th place finish.
Looking Ahead:
The Gophers will be back on the course Tuesday, March 22 at the Wachesaw Plantation Course in Murrells Inlet, S.C., for a one-day event, the Shootout at Wachesaw.Ā
