Mesones Leads Golden Gophers after Day One of Westbrook Invitational

Minnesota in eighth after 36 Holes in Arizona
PEORIA, Ariz. – The University of Minnesota women's golf team finished rounds one and two of the Westbrook Invitational in eighth place Sunday. The Golden Gophers carded a team score of 286 (-2) during round one and 284 (-4) in the second round at the Westbrook Village Golf Course.
Luisamariana Mesones led the Maroon and Gold with a 5-under-par 67 in round one followed by a 4-under-par 68 in round two. She will tee off the third and final round on Monday in a tie for first place.
Olivia Deakins finished up round two with a 2-under-par 72. She finished the day with a combined nine birdies.
Arizona sits in first place with a team score of 276 (-12) in round one and 278 (-10) after round two.
Notable:
Junior Luisamariana Mesones snagged six birdies in the second round. After round two, she remained atop the leaderboard with another under-par score of 67.
Senior Olivia Deakins ended Sunday's 36 holes in 29th place after shooting a round one 73 followed by a 2-under-par 70 in round two. She closed out the day meeting par 12 times.
Isabella McCauley carded a 1-under-par 71 in round one. The senior finished the day in 37th place with a 73, sitting at even par for the day.
Sophomore Reese McCauley posted a 2-over-par 74 to close out the second round tied for 63rd place.
Lauryn Finley finished 4-over-par after the second round, carding a 76. The freshman is tied for 63rd place alongside her teammate.
Looking Ahead:
The third and final round of the Westbrook Invitational will take place on Feb. 23. It is scheduled to begin with a shotgun start at 9:30 a.m. CT with live results available via Scoreboard by Clippd.
