Big Ten Indoor Championship Meet Notes

  • Veronica Jatsek of Ohio State set a Fieldhouse record with an NCAA automatic score of 70 feet, 7.75 inches in the weight throw
  • Jatsek's mark in the weight throw is the 5th best score in the nation for the 2008 indoor season and also a new Wisconsin record
  • Purdue's Astin Steward scored an NCAA provisional mark of 64 feet, 2.5 inches in the weight throw
  • Nicole Edwards of Michigan repeated as Big Ten champion in the one mile with an NCAA provisional time of 4 minutes, 41.04 seconds
  • Minnesota's Jamie Cheever (4:43.34) and Heather Dorniden (4:44.26) ran NCAA provisional times in the mile run
  • Wisconsin's Ann Detmer (4:44.12) and Gwen Jorgensen (4:48.50) ran NCAA provisional times in the mile run
  • Angela Bizzarri of Illinois ran an NCAA provisional time of 4:47.76 in the mile run
  • Michigan's Danielle Tauro also ran an NCAA provisional time in the mile (4:48.37)
  • Penn State's Shana Cox ran NCAA provisional time of 53.40 seconds to win the 400 meters
  • Cox's time also set a new Fieldhouse record
  • Cox also ran an NCAA provisional time to win the 200-meter dash (24.06)
  • Cox won two Big Ten titles today to bring her total to 11
  • Kineke Alexander of Iowa ran an NCAA provisional time in the 400 meters (53.77)
  • Penn State's Dominque Blake ran an NCAA provisional time in the 400 meters (54.63)
  • Tiara Armstrong of Illinois won the 60-meter dash with an NCAA provisional time of 7.41 seconds
  • Michigan's Tiffany Ofili ran an NCAA provisional time in the 60 meters (7.42)
  • Ofili repeated as the indoor 60-meter hurdles champion with an NCAA automatic time of 8.06 seconds
  • Ofili also broke a Fieldhouse record in the 60-meter hurdles
  • Iowa's Renee White won the triple jump with an NCAA provisional score of 42 feet, 4 inches, a new Iowa record
  • Casey Taylor of Michigan (42-0.75) and Gayle Hunter of Penn State (41-7.25) both made NCAA provisional marks in the triple jump
  • Genna Gall of Michigan repeated as the Big Ten Champion in the indoor 800-meter run with an NCAA provisional time of 2 minutes, 5.99 seconds
  • Gall's time is also a new Big Ten meet record
  • Julie Schwengler of Minnesota ran an NCAA provisional time in the 800 meters (2:09.39)
  • Aleesha Barber of Penn State (8.29), Charnee Lumbus of Michigan (8.35), Leah Kincaid of Purdue (8.37) and LaNeisha Waller of Illinois (8.42) all ran NCAA provisional times in the 60-meter hurdles
  • Audrey Smoot of Indiana won the 600-meter dash with a time of 1 minute, 31.59 seconds, the fastest in school history
  • Michigan's Bettie Wade won the high jump with an NCAA provisional mark of 5 feet, 11.5 inches, tying her for the 11th best high jump in the nation this indoor season
  • Caitlin Roemhildt of Minnesota ran an NCAA provisional mark of 5 feet, 10 inches
  • Rundhaug of Wisconsin won the 5,000-meter run with an NCAA automatic time of 15 minutes, 57.93 seconds
  • Jamie Cheever set a Minnesota record in the 5,000 meters with an NCAA provisional time of 16 minutes, 29.07 seconds
  • Michigan State's Nicole Bush ran an NCAA automatic time in the 5,000 meters (16:00.25)
  • Diane Nukuri ran an NCAA automatic time in the 5,000 meters (16:02.96)
  • Brdiget Franek of Penn State (16:10.99), Wendi Robinson of Indiana (16:12.00), Meghan Armstrong of Iowa (16:39.04), Lisa Uible of Michigan (16:40.38) and Alicia Pabich of Wisconsin (16:42.47) all ran NCAA provisional times in the 5,000 meters
  • Penn State's relay team of Briene Simmons, Dominque Blake, Aleesha Barber and Shana Cox broke the Fieldhouse record for the 4X400-meter relay with an NCAA provisional time of 3 minutes, 40.43 seconds
  • Minnesota won the indoor Big Ten Championships for the second year in a row, their second in school history
