Lamoureux Named Rookie of the Week

The Western Collegiate Hockey Association has awarded University of Minnesota freshman forward Jocelyne Lamoureux their weekly honor of the WCHA Rookie of the Week for her performance against Ohio State last weekend. It is the first honor for Lamoureux and the team's ninth weekly award of the season.
Lamoureux, hailing from Grand Forks, N.D., scored three goals and added three assists for six scoring points to help lead the visiting Minnesota Golden Gophers to a 9-2, 12-1 two-game conference series sweep against Ohio State last weekend. On Friday (Jan. 9), Lamoureux scored a tying goal in the first period and added two assists, including one on linemate and sister Monique Lamoureux’s game-winning goal. She then followed with another three-point performance last Saturday (Jan. 10) with two goals and an assist for three more points. Taking a team-high 13 shots on goal in the series, Lamoureux also earned a +4 plus/minus rating and had no penalties. On the 2008-09 season, Lamoureux ranks third on her No. 1-ranked Minnesota team in scoring with 11 goals, 21 assists and 32 points while playing in all 22 games to date. She is also second in scoring among WCHA rookies.
Lamoureux and the rest of the No. 1 Gophers host Bemidji State, Jan. 16-17. Friday's game is set for 6:07 p.m., while Saturday's game is at 4:07 p.m.
