Pisani Registers another Top-10 Finish

University of Minnesota senior Ben Pisani is making the most of his senior season. Pisani, a Brisbane, Australia native, shot a final round even-par score of 72 to tie for sixth place at the Bridgestone Championships at Forest Oaks Country Club in Greensboro, N.C. He finished with a 54-hole score of 209 (68-69-72) that give him his fourth consecutive top-10 finish. The 209 tied a season and career-low 54-hole score.
Sophomore Derek Chang tied for 40th place with a score of 222 (72-72-78) while senior Thomas Campbell finished in a tie for 45th place with a 7-over par score of 223 on his card. Freshman Tim Peterzen, playing in only his second collegiate tournament, carded a 228 while playing the tournament as an individual. He finished in a tie for 68th.
Fellow freshman Shang Zhi tied for 76th with a 231 (79-76-76) and David Haley Jr. finished in 80th with a score of 233 (80-77-76).
Georgia Tech shot a 54-hole total of 843 for the lowest winning score in tournament history. Virginia, Michigan, Augusta State and Tennessee round out the top-five. Virginia's Amory Davis took home medalist honors with a score of 205 (-11).
With the fall season behind him, Pisani leads the Gophers with a 70.14 stroke average. If his average holds up, Pisani would hold the program's finest season, according to the stats. Former Gopher All-American and NCAA Champion James McLean holds the top two spots in single season stroke average after finishing with averages of 70.89 and 71.39 in 1999 and 1998, respectively.
The Bridgestone Championship was the Gophers' last tournament of the fall season. The Gophers will start their spring season on Feb. 12 at the second annual Big Ten Match Play in Miami, Fla. Minnesota went 1-2 in last year's event with the victory coming against Ohio State. Indiana won the inaugural event 3.5-2.5 over Michigan.
