Minnesota senior Jay Barriball will undergo season-ending surgery on Friday to repair a knee injury suffered in practice on Tuesday.

Barriball has played in five of the Gophers' six games this season, making him eligible for a medical redshirt and the opportunity to return to the team for the 2010-11 season.

The Prior Lake, Minn. native and Academy of Holy Angels graduate scored his 100th career point in the Gophers' victory over Alaska Anchorage on Friday. He has two goals and two assists this season and 39 goals and 63 assists in 124 career games. Barriball has 43 more career points than any other current player on the Gophers' roster.

Barriball will have his surgery on Friday morning and the Gophers will take the ice that night at Wisconsin for a 7 p.m. faceoff.
