The Gophers had a scaled back workout today (Dec. 29) as they wound down in preparation for the game, just two days away. Following the normal post-practice meet with the media, head coach Tim Brewster paid a visit to the headquarters of Insight, where he spoke to a packed room of employees about the Golden Gophers, his history as a coach, and college football in general.

A perfect morning, full of sunny blue skies, met the Gophers as they took the practice field. In what would be a "Thursday" practice in a normal week with a Saturday game, the Gophers worked out for their last full practice of 2009. Plenty of guys were flying around as practice opened with special forces, before moving on to individuals and 7-on-7, and closing with team drills.

The play of the day came in 7-on-7 as senior Ben Kuznia, in the last 7-on-7 drill of his career, made a diving catch in the corner of the endzone on a ball placed perfectly between defenders by quarterback Adam Weber. Kuznia sprung up after the catch with excitement, and was met by his teammates to celebrate. The excitement of the players was evident, as they showed they are ready for the game.

Speaking after practice, Coach Brewster said, "Our kids right now are ready to play, they're excited to go play, and we're looking forward to it."

After wrapping up duties on the field, Brewster made his way to the headquarters of Insight in Tempe, Ariz. There Brewster spoke to a crowded room, with people lined-up around the top rail, listening to what he had to say. The folks at Insight showed they had done their homework, as during the introduction they mentioned coach's brief stint as a car salesman.

Brewster took the point and picked right up, explaining how he made the transition from selling cars to becoming a football coach. He talked of all his steps along the way, from coaching in high school, to his first year working at North Carolina, to his time in the NFL and back again to the college game. The inspirational speech also related to the folks at Insight, and achieving the most from each day.

Brewster said, "I wake up every single day, absolutely jacked, about being the head football coach at the University of Minnesota."

Brewster wrapped up his time at Insight by answering questions from the crowd. A wide array of questions were asked, ranging from predictions in other bowl games, to the Heisman Trophy, and the difference between college and the NFL.

Brewster left the room to a rousing applause, and he and the Gophers will wrap up bowl practice tomorrow at Sun Devil Stadium, before taking on the Iowa State Cyclones at 4:00 p.m. (MST) on Dec. 31.
