Gophers Set to Play at 8 p.m. Friday

The NCAA has announced that the University of Minnesota and Mercyhurst College will play in the 8 p.m. (ET) semifinal game, Friday, at the Agganis Arena in Boston. Wisconsin and Minnesota Duluth will play in the first semifinal game at 5 p.m. (ET). The winners advance to the championship game at noon on Sunday, March 22.

The 2009 season marks the sixth time in school history the Gophers have played in the NCAA Frozen Four and the first since 2006. Minnesota’s first Frozen Four appearance came in won the NCAA championship in 2004 and 2005. Their first national championship came in 2000 prior to the NCAA sanctioning the sport. In his second year as the head coach, Frost is making his first appearance at the NCAA championships. The previous five were under former head coach Laura Halldorson.

All-session tickets for the NCAA Frozen Four are available through the Gopher Ticket Office at 1-800-U-GOPHER or 612-624-8080. Fans can watch the semifinal game on NCAA.com, while the championship game will be televised on CBS College Sports (formerly CSTV).
