Golden Gopher All-American Liz Roehrig kicked off her first heptathlon of the season by tallying 3,647 points to lead the Jim Click Shootout heptathlon competition at the University of Arizona on Thursday. Roehrig, the NCAA runner-up a year ago, posted career bests in 100-meter hurdles (14.09 seconds) and the shot put (45-5). She added a height of 5-11 1/4 in the high jump and completed the first day with a time of 24.78 in the 200 meters.

Redshirt freshman Nikki Schultz is in ninth place after the first day with 2,828 points. She was clocked in 15.60 in the 100-meter hurdles, 5-3 in the high jump, 36-2 in the shot put and 26.76 in the 200 meters.

The heptathlon concludes on Friday with the long jump, javelin and 800 meters.
