Gophers Set to Host Home Meet vs. Kansas

GOPHERS SET TO HOST KANSAS IN DUAL ACTION
The University of Minnesota rowing team will host the Kansas Jayahawks, Saturday, April 25th at Lake Phalen (St. Paul, Minn.) The event is scheduled to start at 10 a.m. (weather permitting). Fans are encouraged to check back to gophersports.com for weather updates. The 2008-09 season marks the fourth-straight year the Gophers have competed against Kansas, dating back to the spring of 2006.
LAST YEAR’S RESULTS
Minnesota won all seven races contested against Kansas last year when the Gophers and Jayhawks competed at 5:30 p.m. on April 25th. Minnesota won races in the First Varsity and Second Varsity Eights, the First and Second Varsity Fours and the First, Second and Third Novice Eight races.
MINNESOTA'S PROJECTED LINEUPS
The University of Minnesota will have nine boats competing against Kansas this weekend. Racing in the No. 20 Varsity Eight is coxswain Erica Niemiec, Lisa Pugh at stroke, Katherine Johnson, Ashlee Vilmo, Stephanie Bakkum, Lucy Mulvey, Jenna Schuder, Sarah Graham and Cassie Drozynski at bow. Second Varsity Eight: Coxswain Ilana Ostrin, Michele Peterson at stroke, Emily Baxter, Allison Fisher, Erin Desmond, Rebekah Brzozowski, Tina Cho, Sarah Krueger and Molly Kalmoe at bow.
First Varsity Four: Coxswain Monika Folker, Teresa Logemann at stroke, Tracy Merth, Kate Ladell and Christine Cira.
Second Varsity Four: Coxswain Linnea Trandem, Emily Johnson at stroke, Megan Lenarz, Alyssa Kast, Michelle Murphy at bow.
Third Varsity Four: Coxswain Dana Landseidel, Debbie Brzozowski stroke, Krystal Arbery, Shannon Gates, Katelyn Nichols.

ON THE DOCKET
Minnesota will compete in one of the toughest conference championships in the country next weekend as the Gophers travel to Columbus, Ohio for the Big Ten Championships, May 2. The Gophers are one of six conference teams ranked in the nation. Defending Big Ten champions, Michigan State, is ranked No. 3, followed by Michigan (tied for fourth), No. 8 Ohio State, No. 14 Wisconsin, No. 17 Iowa and No. 20 Minnesota.
