Get to Know the Rowers: Emily Baxter

4/7/2009 12:00:00 AM | Rowing

Periodically through the championship season, gophersports.com will catch up with the varsity rowers in a question and answer session. This week's edition is senior Emily Baxter.

The first thought I had when joining the rowing program was:
"Ok...let’s see where Minnesota is on the map"

My most memorable sports experience was:
Watching the 1V go down the course at the 2007 Big Ten's with this anticipation and excitement knowing that we had just won the championships...it was surreal!

What advice would you give to younger student-athletes?
Everyone always told me when I was a freshman that college was going to fly by, but I didn't believe them. Well it definitely flew by, so my advice would be to make the most of it. Do as much as you can whenever you can. Minneapolis is such an amazing city and I don't think I really started to explore it until last year! So start exploring now!

If you were to compete in a different sport at the U, what would it be and why?
I would want to compete in the pole vault, because it just looks so awesome! How cool would it be to launch yourself in the air...

What has been your funniest road trip memory so far?
Most recently I remember this time when I got to make S'mores...that was great!

If you were stranded on a desert island and you could bring three things, what would it be?
Zone bars, my ipod, and a HUGE water bottle...

If I could trade places with anyone for one day, who would it be and why?
In a rower's perspective, I think I'd like to trade places with someone who can pull an outrageous 2k...just to see how it feels!

How many songs do you have in your iPod?
Currently 238...but I actually have a lot more. Speaking of which I need to switch those up!

Favorite meal:
I've discovered I'm a seafood freak. I love crab and I love fish! Someday I want to become a fish connoisseur!
