The Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) announced that Ashlee Vilmo has been named a 2009 second-team All-American. Vilmo becomes the Golden Gophers' third All-American in school history.

Vilmo reached the following requirements to become an All-American: must meet all eligibility rules as defined by her institution, must have rowed at least 75% of the current spring season's races in the varsity boat, nominated by her institution, strength of finish of the institution's varsity eight within the country, coach comments and her 2k erg score.

During her senior season, Vilmo competed in every Varsity Eight race. She finished her college career as an All-Big Ten selection and a first-team All-Central Region honoree. Vilmo was the only All-American named that was not a part of an NCAA team. With her All-America citation, the Gophers have earned All-America awards for the fourth-straight year. Melissa Roche was a three-time second-Team All-American from 2002-04, while Jenny Barnes was a first-team selection from 2005-08.
