Gophers Ranked No. 21 in Final Polls

The Minnesota baseball team (40-19) was ranked No. 21 in final the Rivals.com and Baseball America Top 25 polls, and finished No. 26 in the Collegiate Baseball Top 30.
It marked the first year since 1999 that the Golden Gophers finished the season in a top 25 poll. Minnesota was ranked No. 25 in what was then the USA Today/ESPN Coaches poll, and No. 28 in the Collegiate Baseball Top 30 in 1999.
Minnesota first moved into the Baseball America Top 25 on Mar. 16 after winning two straight games from No. 11 TCU. The Golden Gophers' first appearance in the Collegiate Baseball Top 30 was on Apr. 6 at No. 30. Minnesota also entered the Rivals.com Top 25 on May 11 at No. 24.
The Golden Gophers finished the 2009 season with a 40-19 overall record, were second in Big Ten play at 17-6, finished second in the Big Ten Tournament and went 2-2 in the NCAA Regionals at Baton Rouge. For the second time since 2004, Minnesota lost its final game of the season to the eventual national champion. This year, Minnesota was knocked out by LSU, and in 2004 the Golden Gophers' season ended at the hands of eventual champion Cal State Fullerton.
