Gophers Add Jenny Weber to Recruiting Class

Jenny Weber, a native of Eden Prairie, Minn., has chosen the University of Minnesota for her college career and will join the Golden Gopher women’s gymnastics team as a walk on this fall. Weber trains at TAGS Eden Prairie, where she is coached by Don Heideman, Betsi Hochette, and former Gopher standout Carolyn Yernberg. Weber is a four-time Junior Olympic Regional Qualifier. In 2008, she was the regional runner up on vault and placed fourthi n the all around. She finished among the top 10 in every event at the 2008 regional meet. In 2007, Weber came in fifth on vault and 13th on bars. She served as a team captain from 2007 to 2009.

In addition to her athletic accolades, Weber has been successful in the academic realm as well. A 2009 graduate of Eden Prairie High School, she was a National Honor Society member, and was a recipient of both a Gold Cord and Honors Cord. She earned a letter for her contributions as a staff writer for her school’s newspaper, the Eyrie.

Jenny Weber is the daughter of Cynthia and Mark Weber. Mark was a member of the Minnesota baseball team from 1981-84.

Outside of gymnastics, Weber enjoys beach volleyball, waterskiing and photography.

Weber will join Jasmine Brown, Janell Campbell, and Shannon Golich in the 2009-10 freshman class. Brown, Campbell and Golich all signed NLI’s with the Gophers in fall 2008.
