Track Lands Four on USTFCCCA Academic Team

Tyler Kleinhuizen, Ben Puhl, Luke Silovich and Aaron Studt of the Minnesota men’s track & field team were named to the 2009 U.S. Track & Field/Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Division I All-Academic Track & Field Team. To be eligible for the honor, a student-athlete must maintain over a 3.25 cumulative grade point average and post a qualifying mark for the NCAA Indoor or Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
Kleinhuizen is a redshirt freshman thrower and kinesiology major from Forest Lake, Minn. He earned his first appearance in the NCAA Midwest Region Championships in the shot put during the outdoor season.
Puhl, a Rochester, Minn., native, competed in the NCAA regional meet in the 3,000-meter steeplechase in his senior track season. He is pursuing a master’s degree in natural resource science and management.
A Fargo, N.D. native, Silovich ran in his first NCAA Midwest Region Championships in the 110-meter high hurdles. He earned a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology in May, but does have a season of track eligibility remaining.
Studt captured NCAA All-America honors in both the indoor and outdoor shot put this season. He was the national runner-up in the indoor season and placed fifth at the outdoor national meet. Studt also competed in the hammer at the Midwest Region meet. A junior from Ripon, Wis., Studt is majoring in business and marketing education.
