Burns Blog: Visa Championships Wrap Up

Guillermo Alvarez and Kit Beikmann did some great stuff at the VISA Championships Friday night.

Kit hit another great set and posted a score of 15.15. That coupled with his 15.45 from Day 1 gave him the Silver Medal on Pommel Horse which is a fabulous outcome for Kit. It was such a pleasure to watch Kit swing with such confidence and poise on the biggest stage he has ever been on. This was Kit's final competition of his career and he went out on a high note.

Kit will be forever remembered as a totally committed, dedicated, and dilligent hard worker and it's been great to see his hard work pay off!

Guillermo improved his all-around score by almost 4 points from Day 1, so it was a much improved performance for him. He had one mistake in an otherwise great night on the competition floor. He moved up to 17th in the all-around for a two-day total and he too finished his competitive career right here in Dallas.

We talked after the meet and I told him how much he has meant to the entire Gopher Gymnastics program both as an undergraduate and as a post-graduate. It's been a real honor for me to help Guillermo get to the heights he achieved over the last 5 years I got to work with him.

The meet season is now over & its time to gear up for another season of Gopher Gymnastics.
