Gophers Conclude Fall Season with 13th Place Finish

Sophomore Erik Van Rooyen was the team's low scorer for the second straight week, earning a tie for 11th place with a five under par 211. The South African finished nine shots behind co-medalists David Lipsky of Northwestern and Blayne Barber of Auburn.
With a final card of 215 and a tie for 19th place, senior Donald Constable continued his tremendous fall season. The captain recorded a top-20 finish in each of the five events this year, including a career-best tie for second at the Rod Myers Invitational.
Sophomore Tim Peterzen ended in 62nd with a 224 following an even-par 72 in the final round. Fellow sophomore Jon Trasamar shot three straight rounds of 77 for 75th place and freshman Alex Gaugert finished 77th with a 238.
Individual champions Lipsky and Barber set a tournament record low with scores of 202. North Carolina's Michael McGowan was one shot off the lead at 203 for third, while Auburn's Michael Herbert and Virginia Tech's Mickey Moyers tied for fourth with 206.
North Carolina took home the tournament championship in dominant fashion, breaking the event record score by ten strokes with a 31 under 833. Auburn was second with an 840 while Virginia Tech captured third with an 842, and Michigan earned a fourth place finish with an 843. Northwestern rounded out the top five with a score of 853.
The Bridgestone Classic was the final event of the fall season for Minnesota. The Gophers will begin the spring season in Coral Springs, Fla. on Feb. 11 at the Big Ten Matchplay.
