Maroon Rallies to Win 6-5

The Maroon team used a three-run ninth to defeat the Gold team 6-5 to take a 2-1 lead in the Steak N' Beans Series at Siebert Field on Saturday, Oct. 2.
Nick O'Shea (Blaine, Minn.) led the Maroon team, as he went 4-for-4 with two runs and two RBI. Trip Schultz (Forest Lake, Minn.) was also 2-for-4 with a run, an RBI and a double, while Matt Halloran (Eden Prairie, Minn.) was 1-for-3 with two RBI. Tory Larson (Maplewood, Minn.) was also 1-for-3 with two runs, a double and a stolen base. Andy Henkemeyer (Sauk Rapids, Minn.) also scored a run for the Maroon squad.
DJ Snelten (Ingelside, Ill.) made the start for the Maroon team and gave up two hits and three runs in two innings. Kyle O'Shea (Blaine, Minn.) pitched two shutout innings in relief and struck out three batters. Billy Soule (Hamel, Minn.) gave up two hits and one earned run in an inning of work to pick up the win in relief.
Justin Gominsky (Mahtomedi, Minn.) went 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI for the Gold team, while Kurt Schlangen (Albany, Minn.) was 2-for-4 with a run. JT Canakes (Eden Prairie, Minn.) was 1-for-2 with two RBI and a stolen base, while Bobby Juan (La Crosse, Wis.) finished 1-for-3 with a double and an RBI. Michael Handel (Sun Prairie, Wis.) also was 1-for-3 with a run, while Drew Hanish (McKinney, Texas) knocked in a run. Dan Olinger (Great Falls, Mont.) and Kyle Geason (Eden Prairie, Minn.) also each scored a run.
Tom Windle (Maple Grove, Minn.) started and gave up three hits and collected three strikeouts in three shutout innings of work. Juan pitched on scoreless inning in relief for the Gold Team as well. Kevin Kray (Maple Grove, Minn.) took the loss in relief, as he gave up three runs in two-thirds of an inning.
Game four will take place on Friday, Oct. 8 at 3:30 p.m. followed by the fifth game which will be on Saturday, Oct. 9 at 12 p.m. The Steak N' Beans Series will wrap up on Friday, Oct. 15 at 3:30 p.m. and on Saturday, Oct. 16 at 12 p.m.
