Erickson scored her eighth goal of the season when she found the back of the net at 8:38 when Kessel found her at the lower hash marks. Schleper started the play and added the second assist. Terry gave the Gophers a 2-0 advantage when she scored a short-handed goal at 15:52 in the first. She scored on a breakaway for her eighth goal of the season. It was the first short-handed goal scored for the Gophers this season. The last time the Gophers scored a short-handed goal dates back to Nov. 28, 2009 against Clarkson when Emily West accomplished the feat.
Schoullis added her sixth goal of the season and second in two games at 1:24 in the second when she placed the puck in the top right corner. Kessel held the single assist for her second point of the game when she fed her linemate on a pass. Kortum lit the lamp at 15:45 in the second period when she scored off a rebound attempt with Terry and Mira Jalosuo adding the assists.
Minnesota found the net another two times to put the game at a 6-0 final. Anne Schleper scored her fourth goal of the season when her deflected off an OSU defenseman at 15:37 in the third. Kessel added her third assist as she fed Schleper the puck in the right circle. The shot deflected off the stick, went over OSU goalie Lisa Steffes' head and past the goal line.
Schoullis added the final blow at 19:18 when she scored her second goal of the game and seventh of the season. Kessel added her fourth assist of the night, a career high. She also tied a career-high four points in a game, her first coming against Clarkson in the opening game this season. Also assisting on the play was Kelly Seeler.
Noora Raty collected her sixth shutout of the season when she stopped all 28 Buckeye shots on goal. She held OSU scoreless when she stopped 12 shots in the first, seven in the second and nine in the third. She currently has 1.59 goals against average and a .943 save percentage. She now holds a record of 11-4-0 this season.
The Gophers went 0-for-2 on the power play, as OSU was scoreless in four chances. Minnesota fired off a total of 34 shots, including 15 in the second period.
Minnesota is scheduled to play OSU tomorrow at 2 p.m., at Ridder Arena. Fans are recommended to check GopherSports.com prior to heading out to U of M athletic events tomorrow, due to weather conditions.
