Four NCAA Champions Set to Appear Sunday

12/3/2010 12:00:00 AM | Wrestling

Four former Minnesota national champions will be on hand when the No. 3 Gophers wrestling team hosts No. 2 Oklahoma State on Sunday including a pair of title winners who will have banners hung in their honor at the Sports Pavilion.

NCAA champions Jayson Ness and Dustin Schlatter will be honored prior to Sunday's 2 p.m. match against the Cowboys with the unveiling of their banners in the sports pavilion. Ness, a rare four-time All-American and a two-time Big Ten champion, finished his career with a 148-15 record including a perfect 31-0 senior campaign that saw Ness capture the 2010 NCAA championship. Schlatter, meanwhile, battled injuries throughout his career and yet still earned the 2006 NCAA championship as well as three All-America honors and two Big Ten titles.

Former Minnesota national champions and All-Americans Cole Konrad and Tim Hartung will also be on hand this Sunday. Konrad, the current Bellator (MMA) heavyweight champion, will  sign autographs before Minnesota's dual against Oklahoma State while Hartung will be honored at half-time for his recent induction into the 'M' Club Hall of Fame.
