Gophers Beat Hoosiers, Face Purdue Saturday

The University of Minnesota beat Indiana University 3.5-2.5 in the first round of the Big Ten Match Play at Heron Bay Golf Club in Coral Springs, Florida.

Ben Pisani, Frederick Van Rooyen and Derek Chang all earned one point victories over their Hoosier opponents in Friday's matches. Transfer Donald Constable halved his match with Indiana's David Erdy. Robert Bell, starting in sixth position for the Gophers, lost to Indiana's Ren Han.

The Gophers tee of at 6 a.m. CST against Purdue University in Saturday's semi-final matches.
