Gophers Taste Victory at Indiana

Ohm hit her first triple just 30 seconds into the game, the contest’s first basket and one that provided Minnesota the lead for good. Her third trifecta at the 16:22 mark gave the Golden Gophers a 12-0 lead.
“Katie did a great job of getting us going by hitting some wide-open threes,” said Golden Gopher head coach Pam Borton. “Overall, we played very well in the first half and hung on for a nice win.”
Ohm added a fourth three-pointer, a season-high, in the first half as Minnesota owned a 29-23 lead at the half.
Indiana center Sasha Chaplin scored a putback to start the second half to bring the Hoosiers to within four points, but a jumper by Brittany McCoy kicked off a 14-2 run for the Gophers. A three-point play by Buford seven minutes later gave Minnesota its biggest lead at 43-27 with 12:08 on the clock.
Jori Davis scored 12 second-half points including a jumper with 2:11 to play to bring the Hoosiers to within seven points at 49-41. Ashley Ellis-Milan hit a big jumper from the free throw line in the Gophers’ next possession and then the Gophers sealed the game from the free throw line.
McCoy finished the game with great stats – nine points, seven rebounds, seven assists and three steals.
Davis led all scorers with 22 points.
Minnesota (13-14, 6-10) hosts Michigan on Thursday at 7 p.m. in Senior Night at Williams Arena.
