Gopher Women Move Up to Fourth Place

The Golden Gophers shot the low round of the day, a 297, in the second round of the Edwin Watts/Kiawah Island Classic to move into sole possession of fourth place. Minnesota's two-day score of 24-over 600 puts them nine strokes behind leader Augusta State.

Leading the second round charge by the Gophers was junior Samantha Sommers with a 73 and a two-day score of 153. Junior Teresa Puga kept up her consistent play with another 74 and currently sits in a tie for 14th at 148. Junior Michele Edlin is one stroke behind Puga at 149 after a second round 74. Minnesota's second round was rounded out by junior Mary Narzisi (81-76--157) and freshman Jackie Shepherd (74-80--154).

All participants are currently chasing Oral Roberts' Crystal Reeves, who is currently at four-under 140.

The top 20 teams, Minnesota included, will tee off at 9:00am EST in a shotgun start at the Cougar Point Golf Course for the final round of play.
