Minnesota posted eight entries onto its all-time indoor top-10 performance lists on Saturday at Notre Dame’s Meyo Invitational in South Bend, Ind. Sophomore Kylie Peterson topped the list running the second-fastest time in Golden Gopher history in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.46 seconds in the prelims. Peterson went on to finish third with a time of 7.49 seconds in the final.

Nikki Swenson ran her career–best 800-meter time of 2 minutes, 7.50 seconds, an NCAA provisional qualifying time and the fourth-fastest clocking in Minnesota history.

The Gophers enjoyed two solid performances in the 400-meter dash, both landing top-10 recognition. Freshman Alena Brooks tabbed the third-fastest time in school history and placed fifth with a time of 55.04 seconds. Senior Rikita Butler added the fourth-best time in Gopher history with a sixth-place clocking of 55.08 seconds. The duo ran the two legs (Butler the second, Brooks the anchor) of the Gophers’ 4x400-meter relay, joining Kelly Stalpes and Chioma Omeoga, to tally a time of 3:43.90 to finish third with the eighth-best time in Minnesota history.

Elizabeth Yetzer added her name to the top-10 list in the mile run for the Gophers. Yetzer placed fifth in the mile with 10th-fastest time in school history of 4:48.49.

The only new entry on the top-10 lists from the field events was freshman Stormy Nesbit in the triple jump. Nesbit landed the eighth-best jump in Gopher history with an effort of 39 feet, 4 1/2 inches.

The Gopher pole vaulters contributed a pair solid finishes. Alicia Rue finished second with a height of 13-7 1/2, while Samantha Sonnenberg was fifth with a vault of 13-1 1/2.

“We continue to take positive steps each week,” said Golden Gopher head coach Matt Bingle. “Our hard work is paying off. We are seeing improvement as we aim toward the Big Ten Championships in a few weeks.”
