Gophers Finish 12th in Myrtle Beach

The University of Minnesota men's golf team struggled on the final day of the General Hackler Championship and as a result, finished 12th. Minnesota's final day, combined score of 322 was its highest of the tournament after firing rounds of 308 and 304 in the first 36 holes at TPC of Myrtle Beach.
East Tennessee State won the event with a 54-hole score of 883 (+19) followed by Coastal Carolina at 886, Augusta State at 892, Pepperdine at 894 and Wake Forest at 895. East Tennessee State's Seamus Power and Josh Anderson of Pepperdine shared medalist honors with a 1-under par 215.
The Gophers were led by senior Ben Pisani, who finished in a tie for 13th place with a 7-over par 223. Pisani came into the tournament with a 71.0 stroke average for the season, tops on the Gopher roster. He now has six top-20 finishes in seven tournaments during his final collegiate campaign.
Freshman Erik Van Rooyen finished alone in 49th place (237) followed by junior Donald Constable in a tie for 50th (238), senior Thomas Campbell in a tie for 66th (246) and sophomore Derek Chang in 68th place with a score of 249.
The Gophers will be off during Minnesota's Spring Break and return to the links on March 26-28 in Florida for the FAU Spring Break Invite, hosted by Florida Atlantic.
