Nearly half of Minnesota's men's hockey roster earned mention on the Western Collegiate Hockey Association's all-academic team with senior Brian Schack leading the way with his third straight selection.

Minnesota had 11 student-athletes named to the squad from its 25-player roster. The roster includes four freshmen who are not eligible to receive the all-academic honor. To be eligible for the all-academic team, student-athletes must have completed one year at the current institution and post at least a 3.0 grade point average for the previous two semesters.

Schack was one of 14 players league-wide named to the team for the third straight year and one of three repeat selections from Minnesota. Junior Mike Hoeffel and sophomore Nick Larson were named to the team for the second straight year. Other Minnesota selections were seniors Jay Barriball and Ryan Flynn along with sophomores Jake Hansen, Jake Kremer, Taylor Matson, Kent Patterson, Nico Sacchetti and Jordan Schroeder.

The remainder of the WCHA postseason awards will be presented at the annual league awards banquet on Thurs., March 18 prior to the WCHA Final Five in St. Paul.
