The University of Minnesota women's golf team struggled on the final day of the Pinehurst Invitational and as a result, finished in 11th place with a three-day total of 920. The entire field found Pinehurst #6 challenging on Tuesday, as only the tournament champion, Florida State Seminoles, was able to post a sub-300 combined score.

Junior Teresa Puga posted the best score of the day for Minnesota with a six-over par 78 to finish the tournament in a tie for 23rd place. Puga carded scores of 77 and 72 on Monday. Freshman Jackie Shepherd and junior Mary Narzisi each finished with 54-hole scores of 233 and in a tie for 44th place.

Samantha Sommers finished one shot behind Shepherd and Narzisi to finish in a tie for 51st place while Michele Edlin finished in a tie for 58th place with a score of 237. Tori Stock, playing the event as an individual, posted her third-straight round of 80 to finish alone in 64th.

The Gophers will take a couple of weeks off before heading to Bloomington, Ind. to take part in the Indiana Invitational on April 10-11. Minnesota finished seventh out of 14 teams at last spring's event.
