Novice Rowers Compete at Crew Classic

The University of Minnesota novice rowers competed in the San Diego Crew Classic, this weekend. Minnesota had two boats in the events on Saturday and Sunday afternoons.
Minnesota earned a spot in the Grand Final of the Womens Collegiate Novice and a chance at the Laurel V. Korholz Perpetual trophy. The group finished fourth overall. Washington St.won the event in 7:17.20, while UCLA was second (7:22.45), Oklahoma was third (7:27.76), Minnesota (7:28.31), Sacramento State in fifth (7:38.9) and USC in sixth (7:39.4).
The Gophers competed in the Womens Collegiate Novice B Final and won the event. Minnesota crossed the line first in 7:51.40 to win the event on Saturday.
Rowers competing in the two-day event was (Minnesota A) of: Alexandria Voss, Allison Putlak, Kayla Thom, Ali Haws, Arielle Flynn, Katie Anderson, Liz Saindon and Natalie Reker. In the Minnesota B boat was Natalie Foshag, Elizabeth Barnes, Jenessa White, Jennifer VanVliet, Melissa Ruggles, Rachel Root, Katherina Busch, Andrea Beczkiewicz. The coxswains for the weekend was Alicia Gruenwald and Emilie Sabourin.
