Fall season finale for 'U' in Virginia

EARLYSVILLE, Va. - Under beautiful fall conditions on the Rivanna Reservoir, the University of Minnesota rowing team delivered a strong showing Sunday at the 2025 Rivanna Romp, highlighted by top-three finishes in both the varsity eight and four races.
 
Strong coxswain performances guided the Maroon and Gold boats through a crowded and technical 4,000-meter course in a time trial format from Virginia during the final regatta of the fall portion of the schedule.
 
The Golden Gophers' First Varsity Eight crossed the line in 13:57.45 to place third overall, trailing only Virginia's top two entries in a deep field that included crews from Virginia, North Carolina, Navy, Georgetown, and Old Dominion. Minnesota's Third Varsity Eight crew narrowly edged the Second Varsity Eight by less than a second with times of 14:38.07 and 14:38.77, respectively, giving the Maroon and Gold three top-10 finishes and showcasing the growing depth across the program.
 
In the Fours, Minnesota placed third and fifth behind Virginia's leading boats, as the Second Varsity Four posted a time of 14:58.07, just ahead of the First Varsity Four at 15:06.02. Additional Gopher entries rounded out the field with strong, consistent performances, further emphasizing the team's progress through the fall season.
