Gophers Still in Third After Day Two in Phoenix

The Gophers remain alone in third place after the second round of play with a two round score of 597 (296-301). Michigan set the tournament record for lowest team round after shooting a 287 on Saturday. They are currently 15 strokes clear of Arkansas-Little Rock and 19 strokes ahead of the Gophers.

Junior Michele Edlin still paces the Gophers after a second round 75. Her two-round score of 146 puts her in a tie for sixth place overall. Junior Teresa Puga (74-73--147) is one stroke behind Edlin and alone in eighth place. Junior Mary Narzisi is in a tie for 28th place at 154 (78-76) after a second round 76. Also scoring for the Gophers was freshman Jackie Shepherd with a second round 77 (85-77--162). Rounding out the Gopher lineup Saturday was junior Samantha Sommers (73-83--156), who is currently in a tie for 44th.

All players are still chasing Michigan's Ashley Bauer, who shot another 68 to sit at six-under 136. She became the first golfer in tournament history to have two rounds of 68.

The Rio Verde participants will tee off in a shotgun format at 1pm local time on Monday. The Gophers will begin final round play starting on the first and second hole of the Quail Run Golf Course.
