Seven Rowers Named Scholar Athletes

The Gopher rowing program had seven student-athletes named Scholar Athletes, announced today by the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Assocation. In order to become a CRCA Scholar Athlete, rowers must meet the following criteria: has met all eligibility rules as defined by her institution, in her second, third, or fourth year of eligibility, rowed in her institution's NCAA or IRA eligible boat(s) for a minimum of 75 percent of the current spring races or racing in a regional conference event and had a 3.5 cumulative GPA or higher for her career (through the fall semester/quarter for the current competition year).
Minnesota's honorees were Erika Berg, Rebekah Brzozowski, Christine Cira, Shannon Gates, Michele Peterson, Jenna Schuder and Linnea Trandem. It was the third-straight year for Cira and Peterson, the second-straight year for Brzozowski, Gates and Trandem and the first for Berg and the Schuder.
