Three Gophers Named Academic All-Big Ten

The Big Ten Conference announced recently that Gopher golfers Thomas Campbell (Abbotsford Dunedin, New Zealand), David Haley Jr. (Hilliard, Ohio) and Tim Peterzen (Elk River, Minn.) were amongst a list of players named Academic All-Big Ten. This is the third consecutive season that Campbell has received the honor and the first honor for Haley and Peterzen.
To be eligible for Academic All-Big Ten selection, student-athletes must be letter winners in at least their second academic year at their institution and carry a cumulative grade-point average (GPA) of 3.0 or higher.
Campbell, a Sports Management major, finished his final collegiate campaign with a 75.68 stroke average, third lowest on the team. He will leave the university with a career stroke average of 75.89 in 22 tournaments. His finest season at the "U" came in 2008-09 when he finished with 75.28 average in nine tournaments.
Also a Sports Management major, Haley played in seven of the team's 11 tournaments this season as a redshirt-freshman, finishing with a 76.7 stroke average. His finest performance of the season came in the rain shortened Alister MacKenzie Championship in October where he carded a 36-hole score of two-under par 140, including a final-round 68.
Peterzen, a Business & Marketing Education major, played as an individual in two tournaments this season as a redshirt-freshman. His best performance came at the Gopher Invitational at Spring Hill Golf Club with a 54-hole score of 227.
