Constable Second, White Fifth at State Amateur

University of Minnesota golfers Donald Constable and Cameron White each collected a top-five finish today in the final round of the 2010 Minnesota State Amateur Dakota Ridge Golf in Morton, Minn. Both players will be seniors on next season's Gopher club.
The event came down the end, as Constable finished runner-up by one stroke with a 54-hole score of 10-under par 206. He posted rounds of 67, 68 and 71. Tom Hoge, a member of the TCU golf team, won his second straight title.
White posted the second-lowest score of the day with a four-under par 68 to finish in a three-way tie for fifth with a score of one-under 215 (75-72-68).
The runner-up finish was the second of the summer season for Constable, as he also finished second at the 2010 MGA Players Championship. His greatest accomplishment of the summer, however, came earlier in July, as he brought home the 2010 North & South Amateur Championship title. He also missed qualifying for this year's U.S. Open at Pebble Beach by one stroke.
Constable, a four-year letter winner at Minnetonka High School, was a four-time All-Classic Lake Conference selection. He played two full years at the University of Texas before transferring back to his home state of Minnesota prior to the start if the spring golf season.
Constable played in five tournaments for the Gophers as a junior during the spring season. He posted a stroke average of 74.81, the second-best on the team. He was Minnesota's top finisher at the Big Ten Championships in May with a 16th place finish.
White, a graduate of Wayzata High School, was in the Gopher lineup for three events this season, placing in a tie for 21st at the Gopher Invitational, a tie for 53rd at the Windon Memorial and a tie for 33rd at the Indiana Invitational. He finished the season with a stroke average of 76.0.
