Stephanie Price, Gophers Cruise to Oz Title

Junior Stephanie Price captured her first career medalist honor in leading the Minnesota women’s cross country team to a dominating performance in winning the Oz Memorial Run title on Friday. The Golden Gophers tallied 19 points, landing their five scoring runners in the top seven places.
Price covered the Les Bolstad 6-kilometer course in a career-best time of 21 minutes, 16.15 seconds. Price, who earned All-NCAA Midwest Region honors a year ago, grabbed an early lead and ran away with the individual title, winning by nearly a full minute.
Redshirt freshman Missa Varpness finished second in her first race in a Gopher uniform. Varpness clocked a time of 22:12.95.
Senior Nikki Swenson finished fourth in a time of 22:19.23, while true freshman Ashlie Decker followed in fifth in 22:22.53. Another redshirt freshman, Rachel Drake completed the Gophers’ scoring finished seventh in 22:53.42.
