Gophersports.com: You were the all-time leading scorer for Moorhead High School. What was it like to earn that accomplishment?
Ashley Stenerson: It was an amazing feeling knowing that hard work really does pay off in the end. It was even more meaningful since it was senior night and I had a lot of my close family members attending that game.
GS: You played with the Minnesota Junior Whitecaps. Tell us about your experience and what you learned there?
AS: First, it was such a great experience being able to meet and play with a group of such amazing and talented girls. I learned a lot from Winny and Allie about every aspect of the game and most of all it was just a blast to be able to play with such a fun, talented team.
GS: We've started practice and you've got the first couple weeks of school under your belt. How has your collegiate experience been so far?
AS: It has been amazing. It was great to get on the ice and skate with the team. The team is great, everyone is really friendly and willing to help out with anything.
GS: Were getting closer and closer to the season. What is something you're most looking forward to?
AS: I cannot wait to take that first shift as a Gopher! It will be great to get the first one under my belt and hopefully get all those nerves out!
GS: When you're done with your Gopher hockey career, what would you like to have accomplished, both individually and as a team?
AS: Obviously, I want a ring for winning a national championship. I hope to do the job I am given on the team as well as possible and help the team to a national championship.
