Sonnenberg Impressive in Season Opener

All-American pole vaulter Samantha Sonnenberg started her senior season in impressive fashion winning the event at Minnesota’s season-opening Northwest Open on Saturday at the University Fieldhouse. Sonnenberg cleared a height of 13 feet, 3 1/2 inches to win the pole vault.
Caty Dongoske won her first career title, winning the weight throw with a throw of 52-0.
The Gophers did not compete a large contingent in the meet. Minnesota will feature a full team at next weekend’s Minnesota Open.
