Minnesota Puts on Meet the Team Event

The University of Minnesota women's gymnastics team hosted its first Meet the Team event on Saturday afternoon as the 2012 squad showcased new skills, routines and faces for the upcoming season.
The event lasted for approximately two hours as the team began with a group tumbling performance. Following that, the Gophers had 4-to-5 gymnasts display their routines for the floor, vault, balance beam and uneven bars.
After showcasing their new skills and routines, the team held a 15-minute session for any questions that fans may have. The event was capped off with a giveaway drawing for two season passes, and then the team signed autographs and took pictures with the 60 plus fans that were in attendance and able to sign up before it was cutoff, due to capacity issues.
The Golden Gophers begin their 2012 season on January 1 as they participate in their annual intrasquad meet. Minnesota's first official competition date is set for January 7 at 6 p.m. as they host Ohio State at the Sports Pavilion.
