University of Minnesota head men's and women's swimming and diving coach Kelly Kremer and associate head coach Bill Tramel announced Wednesday that Logan Redondo of Mission Viejo, Calif., has signed a National Letter of Intent to swim for the Gophers next season.

"I feel very fortunate that Logan chose Minnesota," Kremer said of Redondo. "As a staff, we are looking forward to working with him over the next four years."

A senior at Capistrano Valley High School, Redondo qualified for the 2012 US Olympic Trials in both the 400 freestyle and 1500 freestyle as part of the Mission Viejo Nadadores, coached by Bill Rose.

"We are very excited to have another Nadadore join our Minnesota family," Tramel said. "We have a great relationship with Mission Viejo and Coach Rose. Kelly was an assistant for Coach Rose years ago, and he prepares young swimmers exceptionally well for college. Logan is a great fit for our program, not only with his swimming talents, but also his vision and commitment."

Redondo also earned runner-up honors in the 1500 freestyle and placed third in both the 400 freestyle and 800 freestyle events at the 2011 US Junior National Championships.
