Sophomore goaltender Noora Raty has been named a Reebok Second Team All-American, announced by the American Hockey Coaches Association. The announcement came in conjunction with the 2011 NCAA Frozen Four in Erie, Pa. It is Raty's second All-America honor in two years after receiving first-team honors as a freshman. Raty's status marks the fourth-straight year the Gophers have had an All-American and the program's 22nd accolade since 1998.
A top-10 Patty Kazmaier finalist, Raty was also named a first-team All-WCHA selection. Playing in 35 games as a sophomore, Raty had a goals against average of 1.77 and a save percentage of .941. Making the WCHA All-Tournament Team, Raty had a 51-save performance against eventual NCAA champion Wisconsin on March 5 and 83 saves during the championship. In WCHA action alone, the Espoo, Finland native had a .943 save percentage and a 1.70 GAA, winning 18 games. Raty set multiple school records in her second Gopher season. On the year, Raty held a 25-7-2 record, breaking a school record for wins in a season. She also had nine shutouts, which was tied for the nation's lead and set a school record. She also broke her own school record of 964 saves this season for the nation's sixth-best save percentage. Along with her athletic achievement, Raty was named a WCHA All-Academic selection.
