MINNEAPOLIS -- Minnesota freshman pitcher Sara Moulton earned Big Ten Freshman of the Week honors for the third time in her career this week, according to a release issued today by the Big Ten conference.

In two appearances last week, Moulton allowed just eight hits in 17 scoreless innings of work and struck out 28 batters to improve her season record to 20-10. The Eagan, Minn. native threw a complete-game one-hitter against South Dakota on Saturday, carrying a perfect game into the seventh inning while striking out 13 batters. Two days earlier, Moulton tied a career high with 15 strikeouts against Iowa State, throwing all 10 innings as Minnesota picked up a 1-0 win.

The pair of shutouts for Moulton gives her 11 on the season, which ties the freshman for the third most shutouts in a season at Minnesota. Moulton is also close to breaking into the top five season records in strikeouts (236; needs 25 more to tie for fifth) and wins (20; needs three more to tie for fourth).

Minnesota returns to action this Wednesday with a doubleheader against Iowa at home beginning at 4:30 local time. Both games will be broadcast live by the Big Ten Network.
