Gophers in Tenth at Illinois Event

The Gopher men's golf team posted a score of 316 in the first round of the Illini Spring Classic and to claim 10th place at the 14 team tournament in Urbana, Illinois. Minnesota is 22 shots back of leader Akron with 36 holes to play.
Erik Van Rooyen and Donald Constable are the low Gophers thus far after carding 77's on Saturday and are tied for 18th after the opening round. John Trasamar is tied for 47tha after carding an 80, while Robert Bell shot and Shang Zhi shot an 85 for 66th .
Host Illinois is just one back of the Zips in second place and Michigan State is nine back third at the Stone Creek Golf Club.
