University of Minnesota rowing held an alumni banquet to celebrate the program’s 10-year anniversary Saturday night at the University of Minnesota boathouse, located off the shores of the Mississippi River. The Golden Gophers celebrated the accomplishments of the program (NCAA berths and the 2007 Big Ten Championship) as well as the facility they were currently celebrating in, the construction of the boathouse. After a social hour from 5-6 p.m., attendees gathered for food and fun thereafter. Director of Athletics Joel Maturi, Senior Associate Regina Sullivan and Assistant Athletic Director Leo Lewis attended the event. Gopher alum and former assistant Libby Sharrow represented the first-ever class, which a majority of the team transitioned from a club to a varsity sport in 2000-01.

Here’s some interviews with former Gophers and current staff on the progression of the Gopher rowing program.
