Gophers Ready for Big Ten Championship

Overview : The University of Minnesota men's golf team heads to West Lafayette, Ind. to take part in the Big Ten Championships this weekend. Hosted by Purdue, the event will played at the 7,465 yard, par 72, Brick Boilermaker Golf Conference this Friday April 29 through Sunday, May 1.

The 72-hole event begins Friday's first round scheduled for 8 a.m., with second round play immediately following at 1 p.m. Players will then begin third round action at 9 a.m. on Saturday, while the final 18 holes will conclude on Sunday with an 8:00 a.m start time. 

All 11 conference members are competing at the annual event, four of whom are currently ranked in the top-50 nationally according to Golfweek. Illinois (13) heads up the list, with Iowa (17), Ohio State (29), and Indiana (36) all ranked as well.

Individually, 17 of the top 20 finishers at last year's Big Ten Championship return for this year's version. That group is headlined by reining medalist David Lipsky of Northwestern.

The Gophers : Representing the Gophers at the annual tournament will be Donald Constable, Cameron White, Erik Van Rooyen, Jon Trasamar, and David Haley Jr..  

Last Time Out: Minnesota earned a fifth place finish at the 12 team Robet Kepler Collegiate Tournament on the campus of Ohio State. Donald Constable took home his fifth top-10 finish of the season, placing in fifth.
