Constable & Van Rooyen Named PING All-Region

The Golf Coaches Association of America recently announced that Gopher senior Donald Constable and sophomore Erik Van Rooyen have been named to the PING All-Region Team.
This is the eighth time in nine years that a Gopher player has been named to the all-region team. Both players finished the 2010-11 season at the NCAA San Diego Regional.
A native of Minnetonka, Minn., Constable finished his collegiate career by leading the Gophers in stroke average at 72.30 on the season, the seventh-lowest single-season stroke average in the history of the program. His two-year Gopher average of 73.07 is the fourth-lowest in school history.
Constable, a Second Team All-Big Ten performer this season, finished his senior campaign having posted five top-10 and 10 top-20 finishes in 12 tournaments, including a runner-up finish at the Rod Myers Invitational in October.
Van Rooyen, a native of Oudtshoorn, South Africa, finished with the team's second-lowest stroke average at 73.02, the 21st-lowest in the history of the program. He accumulated three top-five and eight top-20 finishes on the season. His Gopher career average of 74.33 is just shy of the program's records book.
A total of 152 players across six regions - Northeast, East, Southeast, Midwest, Central and West - earned all-region honors for 2011.
